Reading MACD histogram as slope
Histogram contraction often arrives before a crossover. Training the eye on slope changes reduces late entries.
Many traders wait for the MACD line to cross the signal line. By then, a large share of the move may already be priced. The histogram — the gap between those lines — often softens first.
We practice marking histogram peaks and troughs on quiet charts without drawing the crossover at all. Trainees learn to ask whether momentum is still expanding into the move or already fading while price still looks fine.
This does not replace structure. It adds a timing question: if the higher timeframe still supports the bias, is the working timeframe still accelerating?
